Leaky G5

August 29, 2007 - 10:36pm

Do you have a G5 Tower or know someone who does? It would seem that there is a new (old) problem with them. These particular models are liquid cooled. Some of the early models ended up leaking on the CPU resulting in some nasty problems. Apple changed the design of the cooling system so that it became a sealed system which, in theory, wouldn't leak. But recently stories of the sealed system leaking have been reported.

If you suspect that your coolant system is leaking immediately turn off your computer. There are potential problems associated with the coolant as noted in its safety data sheet so don't touch it if you see it!

This issue only applies to the PowerMac G5 Tower, not the G5 iMac or any portable Apple computers.
