What do Britney Spears and a trojan horse have in common?

They both come wrapped up in the same wrapper?

There is a brand new trojan horse for Mac OS X that has been trapped in the wild by Intego, the makers of VirusBarrier. Intego has named it OSX.RSPlug.A. Its nasty. It works by changing your DNS entries to ones that belong to nasty sites you don't want to go to. Where is this trojan horse hiding? Believe it or not, in a supposed video of Britney Spears that is not your run of the mill star photo.

If you should be so foolish to download this video you will be told that you don't have the appropriate codec to open it and to follow the link to get it. Instead of the codec, you will get the trojan horse. Depending on the way your browser is set up you might inadvertently install it. Once installed you will find yourself going places you never dreamed of.

Naturally Intego VirusBarrier has the necessary updated virus definition to get rid of the trojan horse once you've got it. You can also use the Terminal to get rid of it. It is easier NOT to get it in the first place.
